Frequently Asked Questions

  • Preorders are placed through Hotplate at www.hotplate.com/justkneady. The menu goes live every Sunday, and the best way to grab what you want before it sells out is to sign up for text alerts. You will get a notification as soon as the bread drop is live. Pickup days are Wednesday and Friday.

I’m located at 9 Nantucket Trail in Sandwich, MA. Pickup is contactless and runs on an honor system. Your order will be labeled and ready for you at the stand. Just grab your bag during your pickup window. At the stand, you will find easy, visible payment options, including a cash box and Venmo. I also accept PayPal and Zelle if that is easier for you.

Sourdough takes time! Each loaf needs at least 48 hours from start to finish to properly ferment and develop flavor. That is why orders need to be placed in advance. Same day orders are not possible so I can make sure every loaf is baked fresh and ready for pickup.

  • 9 Natucket Trail in Sandwich, Massachusetts, the bread stand is green and at the end of the driveway and it's contactles pickup! You will see your orders in bags with your name on the bag.

  • Mix the starter with equal parts water and flour, feed daily, and it will be active in about 5 days. Full instruction are written here on Substack: https://justkneady.substack.com/p/how-to-rehydrate-your-sourdough-starter

  • Absolutely! All items sold are baked fresh that same day of your chosen pick up.

  • While we start out, we are pacing the quantities available for each pick up until we are confident we can guarantee high quality items to all. As timings are tested and managed, quantities will be increased.

  • Because all orders are baked to order and takes days to prep, unless other plans are made, any no show will not be refunded. If you cannot make your pick up, reach out to me as soon as you can and I will do my best to make arrangements within reason.

  • I would LOVE to start doing farmers markets! If you know anyone who is looking for a sourdough vendor, please let me know!

  • I do! I try to have dehydrated sourdough starters on the stand Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I am still learning how to feed>dehydrate>package in bulk so I can start shipping.

I do not sell fresh sourdough starter, especially in the winter, because there are too many variables that might hinder success. Rehydrating a starter in your own home is more secure and I would hate to waste your money.

  • Sourdough is naturally leavened & made without commercial yeast using a wild culture of flour and water that ferments over time. Each loaf takes about two days from start to finish. This slow process develops a rich, tangy flavor, a chewy crust, and a soft, open crumb. Many people also find sourdough easier to digest and gentler on the stomach than store-bought bread.

  • We currently do not offer any gluten free options! While we would love to serve you, we are not comfortable at this time preparing gluten free in the same kitchen as everything else. Hopefully you understand.

  • Yes. All of our sourdough is made in a home-based, residential kitchen in Massachusetts that is compliant with the state’s Cottage Food regulations. We follow all requirements for approved foods, safe preparation, and proper labeling.

  • At this time, cottage food regulations restrict us to local sales and pickup only. We do not ship our products.
